Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) is use to describe less invasive spine surgery. At NYC Spine Surgeons, this surgical technique is used by performing small incisions in order to reduce the amount of tissue damage beneath the skin, thus reducing the amount of blood loss and decreasing the risk of infection.

Our board-certified spine surgeons are among the best in the nation specializing in minimally invasive spine surgical procedures. Some of our procedures include:

  • Disc Replacement

A Cervical and Lumbar Disc Replacement procedure removes a damaged spinal disc and replaces it with an artificial disc that mimics the original one and tries to restore the motion to the spine.

  • Kyphoplasty

Kyphoplasty, or Ballon Kyphoplasty, is a minimally invasive procedure to treat painful vertebral compression fractures by restoring the height and strength of the fractured vertebra(s).

  • Laminectomy

Laminectomy (a Spinal Decompression) is a surgical procedure that removes the back wall of the spinal canal, called lamina, to create more space for the spinal cord, thus relieving pressure on the spinal cord and/or spinal nerves

  • Spinal Fusion

Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure that helps to relieve pain in the vertebrae (spinal bones) by fusing two or more vertebrae together to reduce motion.

  • Spine Deformity and Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition that causes an abnormal lateral curvature of the spine. A slight degree of curving is perfectly normal in most people, but scoliosis causes a pronounced curving of the spine resembling the letters ā€œcā€ or ā€œs.ā€
